MRI Scans are superb for diagnostic purposes although the scanners really need to be used for detecting the serious medical conditions but an MRI scan is very useful for back , neck, shoulder knees hips, pelvic pain and I am delighted with being able to fill in and scan through a simple MRI REQUEST FORM to Alliance Medical based at Larbert Hospital which is only 25 minutes away down the motorway. This lovely state of the art brand new hospital has plenty of free easy parking.
One fills in the MRI Scan request and scans it through to Larbert then one of the team will give you a call and book you in for a scan if you can wait 14 days it costs you £199.00 You go and get your scan at Larbert and you can pick up your CD rom with images and within 24 hours they email whoever has requested a scan within 24 hours. This service has been available in England for many years at this cost and it is only recently with the opening of this new hospital that Alliance Medical has been able to offer this service here in Scotland. It happens that Edinburgh is very near to this new hospital and I am delighted with the quality of the images and the in depth MRI report which has been excellent and in great detail
The MRI Scan was able to diagnose the underlying problem of chronic knee pain which did not require surgery and a long term pelvic pain after child birth and with long term moderate to severe back pain. Again no surgery required, no need to see a specialist except both cases were able to take their reports to their GPs for some medication as needed
The patients were able to use this diagnostic MRI Scan knowledge as firstly reassurance, secondly in both cases they did not need to be referred to see a hospital specialist which saved them taking time of work and enabled them to reflect and use this knowledge to formulate a good management plan for themselves.
I would highly recommend MRI scans if you are not in the severe criteria in which your GP can arrange an MRI Scan. It can even be much quicker than going privately to see a hospital consultant who may or may not arrange an MRI Scan and maybe that all you want is the reassurance of the MRI Scan
For an MRI Scan you must be a patient attending Helen as you must have a Case History Examination and treatment plan
